A/B Scan

Function
Determines axial length of Intra-ocular lens for cataract surgery
Power calculation

Ecography of the eye for detection of foreign bodies, retinal detachment etc.

NB: A difference of 1 mm in axial length results in a difference of 3 diopters for the intraocular lens.

Selection Criteria
Adjustable speed in different areas in of the eye:
Anterior chamber, lens, vitreous, etc. for accuracy of measurement
Possible use of immersion technique (non contact) for better accuracy of results

Accurate measurement

Precise results

CineScan

Function
Allows visualization of foreign bodies, melanomas, retinal detachment in the eye,...
Possible upgrading to Analog (v/s Digital)

NB: In analog B-Scan = Real-Time visualization because image is displayed as soon as sensed .
In Digital B-Scan = Image is displayed according to sweep, therefore it is not a real time display.

Selection Criteria
Number of grey levels for a better resolution of the image.
Standardized-A for ease of tissue recognition for real-time Visualization.
